Lab Packing

U.E.S Lab Packing Services provides technical expertise and extensive resources to handle laboratory chemicals, household chemicals,  highly hazardous and reactive chemicals, radioactive materials, and cylinders.  Our chemists are skilled in chemical recognition, categorization and packaging. We provide turnkey lab packing services for schools, universities, hospitals, research laboratories, and various industrial customers.  Whether you have routine, planned chemical packaging, transportation and disposal needs, or need immediate response to an environmental emergency, U.E.S. is there for you.

  • Reactive Chemical Stabilization - U.ES. provides on-site remediation and stabilization services for unstable, shock sensitive, explosives or materials restricted from transportation. Some common reactive materials handled are multinitrated compounds (e.g., Dinitrophenol, Trinitrobenzene), azides (e.g., Sodium Azide, Lead Azide), organic peroxides (e.g., Benzoyl Peroxide, MEK Peroxide), peroxide forming materials (e.g. Ethyl Ether, THF) and many more reactive chemicals.

  • Laboratory Moves - Whether one laboratory, hazardous material stockrooms, or an entire research building needs to be moved across the street or across the country, U.E.S. laboratory move services ensure the move is completed quickly, efficiently, and in full compliance with all federal, and state regulations.  Our chemists package the chemicals intended to be moved in the same manner as chemicals intended for disposal, following the same regulations and adhering to the same health and safety procedures.

      o
Packing and Unpacking Chemicals - To ensure that chemicals are   delivered     to the appropriate location and to make unpacking easier, chemicals can be packaged separately according to room or laboratory number. U.E.S. will unpack the chemicals if requested or leave the containers on site to be unpacked at a later date and return for the materials.

o       Moving Process - All materials utilized during the move are supplied.  Chemicals are packaged in DOT approved containers using special cushioning material to minimize the risk of damaged materials during transport.  Coolers are utilized to keep refrigerated items cold or refrigerated transport can be arranged for large volumes of temperature sensitive materials. We can manage the movement of difficult items such as refrigerators and cylinder stations, which require extensive coordination between the customer’s environmental health and safety staff, researchers, and U.E.S.

  • Radioactive Waste - U.E.S. radioactive services and disposal provide a broad range of radiological services that ensure full compliance with all DOT, NRC, state and local regulations through a network of approved and certified disposal outlets.
     o       Typical Radioactive Waste Handled:
      • Uranium and thorium compounds (acetate, nitrate)
      • Smoke detectors
      • Exit signs
      • Electronic equipment containing radioactive sources
      • Scintillation fluid
      • NORM (Naturally Occurring Radioactive Material)
      • Biological specimens
      • Mixed waste
